5 ways to increase your Etsy sales
Etsy is an incredible tool, if you are a current user you will know that it provides an affordable way for sellers to easily get online, and drives traffic automatically and directly to your store. The competition is high though, with huge numbers of stores in each niche it can be difficult to stand out. Here are five easy ways to help improve your Etsy store, and up its conversion rate securing those sales.
Amazing product images
On each product, you are allocated a total of 10 photos to showcase and help your product. I see a huge number of sellers under-utilizing these spaces and only using one or two. Use them all up to really help sell your product – visually list the features of your product (Canva is a great option to create graphics for this), show the details in cropped and close up photos and upload slides of your shop branding. Aim for high resolution images of at least 1500x1500pixels so when people click the thumbnails they get a nice crisp image up close.
Use your tags effectively
Your tags are small hooks which catch the traffic as it goes past. There is a lot of competition for highly searched tags, and while new listings will get a small bump in search engine traffic, if the tags used on the listings are in high demand it could only be for a matter of seconds. Try to think of tags which people would naturally search but a little more unique to your product. For example, including colours, textures, materials. Things like that can get your listings more views and therefore more customers.
Fill out your store policies in full
It might sound pretty basic, but it’s absolutely vital. People online have been burned before and when they are shopping online, they are going to look into who they are buying the product off. Did you know the most common clicked page on a website is the about us page? People want to connect with you and know they are safe purchasing with you. Making sure your shop profile and policies (yes, including faqs!) are totally and abundantly filled out can make the difference between someone trusting you with an order vs passing you over for someone who looks more professional.
Fill out those titles
Titles are another place you can add your tags, and it will increase your search engine ranking within Etsy. Don’t jam pack the title with tags so it becomes messy and unreadable, but neatly space it out in small phrases which tie in with your tags. Separate with comas to increase readability and remember that the first couple of words in the title are seen as the most important – so use these for your primary phrase / keywords.
Regularly add new products
Etsy sees new products as the best thing since sliced bread. It will automatically boost where they sit in the search rankings, as Etsy is still gathering information on how they perform. Add new, high quality products regularly to draw in those views and snag the sales – my recommendation would be daily (I know it sounds intense but it’s doable if you are organised and plan ahead). This tip of all the tips involves the most work, but yields the best results.
In conclusion
Success on Etsy is definately possible and its mainly about being consistent and putting in the work. Hang in there and keep adding polish to your store in the places you can, and overtime you will see the results.
